Committee Position: President
Subject: 3rd Year Historian
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Favourite Font: Calibri
Are you involved in any other societies other than HP Soc?
I’m one of the Film and TV Editors for the Cherwell this term
What’s your favourite part of Oxford so far?
Being part of HPSoc!
What tips do you have for freshers?
To try and find a good work/life balance so that you don’t miss out on all the things that you can get involved in!
What attracted you to HPSoc at the Fresher’s Fayre?
Sadly I never found the stall… But I knew that I wanted to join before I came to Oxford
What would be your favourite subject at Hogwarts and why?
Defence Against the Dark Arts, as it’s useful to know how to defend yourself, but being a history student History of Magic is a close second!
If you were to make a horcrux, what would you chose to be your horcrux?
I’d chose the moon, because there would be some unfortunate consequences for Earth if people tried to destroy it and therefore they wouldn’t try
Cat, Owl, or Toad?
Cats-they’re much better for petting
Which Hallow do you think would be most useful and why?
The resurrection Stone so I could resurrect my guinea pig Matilda
Which character would you most like to talk to and why?
As I can’t choose between them, the Weasley Twins; they’ve always been my favourite HP characters and are undoubtedly the funniest
And finally, the books or the films?
I love the films but the books, because there’s a lot in them that the films have to leave out
Committee Position: Quibbler Editor
Subject: 2nd Year Historian
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Favourite Font: Calibri, just because it’s the default when I open word.
Are you involved in any other societies other than HP Soc?
I’m a member of Oxford University Quidditch Club (which you should definitely try at least once!) and regularly attend History Society events at my college
What’s your favourite part of Oxford so far?
The amazing people, Oxford wouldn’t be the same without them
What tips do you have for freshers?
Make sure you talk to as many people as possible, you never know who your next best friend will be! It’s easy to arrive and feel like you don’t belong or don’t deserve to be here, but remember: your tutors picked you for a reason! Try as many different options as your subject allows, you might develop a passion for something completely different to what you enjoyed at A-Level!
What attracted you to HPSoc at the Fresher’s Fayre?
I knew I wanted to join before I came to Oxford, but seeing how friendly the society was at the stall guaranteed it!
What would be your favourite subject at Hogwarts and why?
History of Magic. Charms would be useful and practical for everyday magic, but I’ve always wanted to know more about those Goblin Rebellions and Giant’s wars that Professor Binns talked about in History of Magic!
If you were to make a horcrux, what would you chose to be your horcrux?
Living forever sounds incredibly dull, but if I were to make a horcrux, I’d probably use one of the books in the Bodleian- it’d take too long to check them all!
Cat, Owl, or Toad?
An owl would probably be the most useful, but I feel toads are neglected.
Which Hallow do you think would be most useful and why?
The resurrection stone, it’s nice to see loved ones again, even if only for a short time.
Which character would you most like to talk to and why?
Probably Tonks, she seems like a lovely person.
And finally, the books or the films?
The books!
